When I started working I began in fast food. After a few years it became more long term than I had originally planned. The familiarity became comfortable and safe but something was always missing. It wasn't until I was in my late 20s that I decided to venture out on a different path.
Terrified yet excited I enrolled in what was then the Academy of Hair Design (now known as Jolie Academy in Hazleton). I graduated mid-year 2008 and started my career path in Cosmetology. From chain salon to private salon I've met some amazing and wonderful people. I've had the opportunity to work alongside some of the most talented stylists in our area and will forever be grateful for them guiding me with their knowledge and expertise.
January of 2018 I was able to move in to my own salon!! I've been blessed with an absolutely wonderful clientele. Without them this part of my journey couldn't be. I am so thankful to have such wonderful people in my life. I know that I can't make everyone happy but I'll "dye" trying!! Lol! I am very excited about this part of my journey and look forward to meeting so many more wonderful people! I love what I do and love that it doesn't feel like work.
Growing up I have always been around hair. My dad had a salon before I was born and since I was little I always remembered there being a family member at the house getting their hair done. I was fascinated by the haircutting shears, the hair color, and I remember always playing with the perm rods my dad kept in a plastic container.
Hair wasnt my first choice to do right after high school, my goal was to major in education. I had one semester in, and I knew hair was my calling. I dropped out and enrolled in a beauty school a few miles away from the house I grew up in. In 10 short months I was a licensed cosmetologist from the former Academy of Hair Design In 2010 (now known as Jolie Academy)
I worked in chain salons throughout the Hazleton and Wilkes Barre area. I worked along side many talented stylists and gained a great clientele. After about 9 years working for a corporation, I wanted to venture out and work privately. Lucky for me, one of the talented stylists I worked with in the past is my boss now, Janet. I saw online that Janet was looking to hire a stylist, and the timing couldn't be more perfect.
I enjoy being in the beauty industry and keeping up with the latest trends and styles. It is the most rewarding job. My goal with anyone that sits in my chair is to make them feel good look their best. I look forward to doing more great hair for many years to come behind the chair.
